My husband was my designated driver for the wedding.  As the venue was quite far I could not drive home, plus I was exhausted as I was up since 5:45 am just like everyone else in the wedding, I would not be able to drive even if I could. My husband decided to have a good time as one should at his son’s wedding did some unplanned drinking. So partway  through the evening I started to assess whether he was in any condition to drive. Not that he was drunk to the point that he couldn’t function it was to the point that he could not legally drive I looked at him and asked how are we getting home?  I don’t mind that you decided to drink and have a good time with your friends because the occasions are far and few especially today, however we need to consider our options at this point in time because people are starting to leave and our options are getting smaller and smaller as people are starting to go home.  That we need to be able to go home at the end of the day I asked a few people if they would consider driving us home they were fine with doing so but they wanted to leave sooner than us .  As we would have to stay till the end of the wedding to help with cleanup et cetera.  Now people are leaving earlier because of the drive time no one is staying till the end.  So I asked my very pregnant daughter what she thought about dad’s condition and she said no he’s not in any condition to drive he’s had a good time tonight.  I’m like …hmm well that is a bit of a problem….we need to find an alternative ride home.  Seeing that they were staying in our condo I asked them if they could stay a little bit longer to help us out with the driving.  Mind you my daughter is pregnant and very very tired because she’s had a very long day just like all of us and she really doesn’t wanna stay and I don’t blame her for just wanting to go home to bed.  But on the other hand I need somebody to get home so she’s like why don’t you ask so & so to give you a ride and see what happens? I even offered somebody to get them home via Uber after they do us a big favour and drive us home it is not a big deal but the people that I did ask they said it wouldn’t work out for them. My daughter comes up to me later on and she’s like well did you find somebody to drive you home?  Unfortunately no I didn’t she was just like OK I will stay a little bit longer and then we will drive you home and I’ll take dad and you can go with her hubby and that was it. We got ready to go talked to my son and his wife and her parents and let them know that this is what the situation is and we need a ride home. They understood my situation and were very understanding that we couldn’t stay to help clean up since there were enough people that could help with the cleanup also there wasn’t a lot of of it. We ended up driving home in separate cars my husband with my daughter and me with my son-in-law and we got home safely and without stress
