Family Drama

It took me a while to get back to my own self the week after the wedding as it seemed to me that I was busier than before the wedding.  Everyday I was doing something even after we finished our dog sitting stint.  I also decided that due to some people still being here I would do an early thanksgiving so that they could take part.  It seemed like this would be something nice to do and I got things ready for that.  I always make some things early like prep stuff or stuff that can sit in the fridge and the taste not be affected by it.  So I got the stuff for the stuffing prepped and the gravy made.  Dessert was being taken care of by others and so on.  When we gathered it was great but just like always someone needs to f-things up and shit all over the parade.  My son left early as he didn’t want to say something to his cousin and get into an argument, so that was fine.   We carried on and chatted away, then some others left also and then just like always in comes my mom focusing on some part of the conversation that doesn’t seem to suit her and she picks and picks away at it  totally unaware that we all know what is coming and she vomits out her verbal diarrhea in typical mom fashion and up and leaves.  However this time she went too far and pushed at my buttons with her verbal vomit and I exploded and lost my mind on her.   It wasn’t pretty needless to say and I was so upset by everything as was my husband and we both cleaned up and were wondering why these things always turn into a shit show with some one in our immediate family getting the short end of the stick.    My son left and my daughter’s away growing a baby so inevitably it’s either going to be him or me.  Don’t get me wrong I’m not proud that i lost my mind on her.  Timing wise not a really good one but she always even before her cancer diagnoses did this.  So it wasn’t a surprise that it would happen but the fact that someone said anything to her is the rub.   As I discussed this with my daughter who knows how our family gatherings tend to go she said that it was about time someone said something to her.   I called her the next day and she didn’t want to talk to me.   As we literally were yelling at each other again.  I told her that I won’t be having any more family gatherings anymore as I can’t deal with it turning into another verbal vomit fest.  I asked her again how she could think or even say the things she did??  As they were so untrue.

The effects of that literally causing my body lack of sleep, and the flare bear coming out in his best style yet of shutting my neck, shoulder and arms down.  Seeing my physio the next day he was like what happened to you??   I told him family drama figuring that summed it up nicely ….what else can you say to that !!
