Hello? Pain??

How are you feeling today?   For a person like me that could be a loaded question!   Right now I could be perfectly fine.  I could turn my head slightly or move my arm in a way the body doesn’t like and hello pain.  I can walk a different way, sit a different way, do anything even in  the normal way and the pain might come.   Something that is hard to understand for people from the outside looking in is that one day I can feel like I can move mountains and you know I darn well will try and move Mt Everest.  I will have energy like an energizer bunny and be here, there and everywhere.   I try to pace it out but …why?  I feel good!  So you keep on going and eventually either your battery needs a charge or the pain comes to play.  Either way if you aren’t playing the game the way you should be nice and slow then like in the past someone ..Mr Flare Bear will come and toss you into the penalty box or perhaps even out of the game of life for a day or 2.   Depending on how much you push it.  Some days you can be in and out of pain and that’s when you assess if its worth pushing the boundaries.  Its ok to take a time out and just relax.   Trust me I do it a lot.

I don’t like ‘pacing’ because everything takes forever.  I remember one day when I was in early recovery and I was pacing myself and I was making dinner. It took me all day to make fajitas. Thankfully the way I make them is to put them in the oven at the end so it didn’t matter if the fillings were cold.   What I end up doing now is doing most of my stuff in the morning and then in the afternoonI rest up.   Get ready for when hubby comes home and either make or help with dinner and back to resting again.  It’s still pacing kinda sorta!   But back to the question at hand, how are you feeling? Is a rollercoaster of a loaded question because its up and down and all around.  You take it one step at a time and see what the day brings.  If it’s a stressful day, it might not be so good.  If the weather is really bad windy and stormy it will definitely not be good.   If it’s a nice sunny day lets hope for the same here.  Sometimes it will depend on what I did the day before.  Or what new exercises I need to do and they can flare in an instant if we let it.  If I tell you I don’t know it because I am still trying to figure it out myself and we are just riding the wave.  If it’s meh then let it be meh…it’s better than horrible!   But I wouldn’t tell you that!  Would I?

    1. Yes indeed ! But the hope is that we raise the awareness by sharing these things. I am forever grateful to the people that I am surrounded by. Whether they understand the pain or not the “Everest support network” is just a text or call away! Thanks for reading !
