Don’t let him Win!!!

All this week I have been busy with appointments and prepping for my daughter and hubby coming to stay at my place.  Buying some extra food we wouldn’t normally buy and just going back and forth from the car to the unit with a wagon full of stuff and semi already aggravated elbows from physio is a tad bit bothersome but I’m doing what I have to do.   She and her hubby are flying in for the weekend for her brother’s Stag & Doe annnnnnnddddd she’s got a surprise for everyone!  She’s Pregnant!!!! Which is awesome news..and sure to brighten up some faces.  Prepping for the busy weekend ahead I know there will be no time for things that hubby usually does like the laundry etc.   I wash the bed sheets for their arrival so they have a nice clean bed and as I am draping them over the bed unmade my friend drops in and looks into the room that is usually tidy as a pin and asks what is going on.

I tell her I just washed the sheets but as I can’t really put the sheets on the beds because of my neck, shoulders and arms and hands, I am leaving it for hubby to do when he comes home.  She says I can do it for you!!  I’m like ok …thanks for the assist. I still have 2 more loads of laundry and this weekend will be full of late nights, and lots of stuff to do, so I will take help when I can get it.  The kids fly in later Friday night and chat and catch up for a bit, drive home and get them settled and now it’s a late bedtime.  We all wake up a bit early so we chat before they leave for a brunch with their side of the family and we just relax for a bit before we need to leave and get prepping things for the stag and doe.   Thankfully there is not a lot to do but there is just enough to do and as I am sitting there ripping the tickets apart I can feel my fingers not being happy if I needed to rip more.  So I called hubby over to help. He’s not happy with being taken away from doing nothing but I don’t tell him why I need him he just comes over and starts helping.  Then we get a break for a bit and back we go.   This is where I thought that the wedding party would be selling tickets etc..and I would be free to move around.  No such luck my friends you guys are going to sell tickets for 1hr then go socialize for 1hr  and then rotate to the other ticket station.  Then afterwards we need to clean up etc, etc, etc……I think by the time we came home and went to bed it was 2:30 am.   We started set up at 1:30 pm.  13hrs+ on the go and we were up again early at 8am for our family brunch.  Who said we need sleep???  When I was putting together the ingredients for the pancakes I was making I did the math in my head. It wasn’t hard, as I was doubling the recipe but remembering it was the trick ¾ + ¾= 1 ½ cup of whatever I was putting in there!!   It was difficult for me to process and everyone could see that I was flared up.  So I stayed at my pancake griddle and everyone pitched in with something.   Everything got done even though we were all very tired.   Then when everyone left I plopped myself into the couch and I didn’t move much for the rest of the day.   When it was time for my daughter to get a ride to the airport….I apologized stating I wasn’t going.  She understood that the flare bear has me in his grips when he lets me go no one knows !! He stayed with me for the bulk of the week toying with me albeit a bit muted with the acupuncture that physio gave me …it  was also quite funny as he asked me how I managed to function with so little sleep? My answer was you really don’t.  I was exhausted until Wednesday.

Then I started to move a bit more but still you can tell that I am tired and I will never get that time back.  So we putter along the flare bear and I doing what we can, and if we can’t then we won’t …or do we??  Once again the value of the pain that you want to put yourself through.    Was it worth it???  Some will say no way!  Some will say heck ya! It’s your choice and your body and only you know what you can tolerate.  If you don’t then don’t worry, if you have a flare bear like I do he will talk to you soon enough!!  Pro tip:  don’t let him win!!
