Ultra Sensitized..EEK!

Well this is a totally new experience! I tried to do some hand knitting and now my hands have been flared up for several weeks now and typing is even painful. I’m contemplating turning on the dictation mode on the laptop just to see how it will go as I have been itching to get this note down.  So in searching to try new things I had 2 thing on my list one was to do a puzzle and we aren’t doing too bad with that one but wanting to be productive and explore the world around me I took a look at trying out some hand knitting I’m like it’s on a larger scale it’s not the fine movements like the regular things you would normally do with your hands and fingers like sewing crocheting and knitting that would not be something my hands could do anyhow.  I discussed this with physio beforehand and his advice was buy a ball of yarn and see what happens. If you can do it great you have a new hobby.  If you can’t then you didn’t waste a lot of money trying and you know that is something you can’t do. There’s logical talk!  So that’s what I did …I tried doing it I didn’t even get into the knitting part and found that I didn’t have the strength in my fingers to pull and manipulate the yarn as I was creating the chain, but even more so not even 5 mins of contact with the yarn my hands and fingers got “super sensitized” from the sensation of the chenille like material rubbing against my hands that  they swelled up got all red and fat and hot felt like they were on fire.   Eventually the redness went down and I went back to see if it was an allergic reaction to the material which was 100% polyester and when my hands just rested on it nothing happened.  But the minute I gently rubbed my hands with it back to red nasty hot swollen they returned.   I was in so much pain with my hands in a lot of pain and the worst part was there was NOTHING I or anyone else could do to make it better. I had fat finger syndrome going on and the worst times.  I couldn’t even close my hands without them being in pain.  I had some emails to write and I asked someone to type them for me. This was horrible, the worst case scenario that could have happened and the only prescription for it was time …. The flare bear gave me a giant  F U! While I paced, opened and closed my hands, applied heat, just sat with a blank stare in my eyes trying to think of nothing.   Hubby trying to distract me with anything to take my mind off this very obviously painful dilemma of mine.   At least the flare bear was able to make this one an external sign of pain.  There was no question about whether I was in pain.  Now it was how long before he would let go??   3 Days before there was some relief in my hands…but now we have the issues of peeling things like potatoes and vegetables. Well, let’s say they didn’t all get done.  Here we go back to hubby picking up the slack. We are back to typing and it is very hard on these fingers. Pacing can pound it because when I tried to do stuff recently just quick vacuum and then later on groceries.  I almost dropped them on the floor because my hands started to spasm and feel like I was undergoing electroshock therapy and this is week 3.  Lots less compared to day 1 in the pain department but the fingers just don’t want to address the issue.
