Leap of Faith

Today I took a leap of faith and registered a team for the National Huntington’s Walk.

I made a mistake and sent 2 emails as I had never done this before and when I was trying to register it wasn’t clear as to how to register a team.  Why is it when you send a bulk email to people you always end up forgetting people on the list?  So once I registered it then asked me if I wanted to register a team and the name of the team.  I registered it in the name  of Hunting for Hope as in we are hoping that they will find something to slow down the progression of this horrible disease.  When I was sending out the emails my stomach was tied in knots as to what kind of response I would get.  I am putting myself out there semi-naked for the world to see.  I was pleasantly surprised and relieved  by the response and support I am getting.  It is so nice to see.  I told everyone that I am not out there to get $$ as I don’t like asking for it.  However if they want to do it then they can but they don’t have to.  My daughter is cheering me on and sending me emails of support and love from her new home out west stating that she will be joining everyone during our walk via facetime.  So it’s nice to see that when you finally do take that leap of faith that good things happen.

The next day my hubby asks me what is with all these emails he’s been getting from the Huntington society that he never used to get?  As we were so busy with a showing, tidying up at the last minute and the dog and trying to negotiate some last minute things with the house I didn’t have time to tell him.

I told him that I signed him up for the HD walk, and all those other email’s he’s getting are people signing up to join the team, or donating money.  When we got home I showed him the circle of impact that they had on the site and the impact we are already having on just spreading the news.   That’s all I’m out there for.  I don’t care if we are a top team, I just want people to know about HD.

I want to walk into a place one day and say I have HD and they know what it is not look at you and ask what it is?   With knowledge comes power, and the more we talk about it and create a buzz the more people are aware of it, I believe that the funding will come.   However, we need more people like me to talk about it !
